Vegan Gravy

This has been an ongoing quest for my mother-in-law and me — the search for a gravy that tastes rich, cosy, and comforting without the unnecessary additives, thickeners, or mystery ingredients you find in most ready-made versions. And the funny thing is… the more we stripped it back, the better it became.

There’s something so satisfying about creating a gravy that’s 100% natural, deeply flavourful, and made from real ingredients you can actually pronounce. No shortcuts. No packets. Just honest, simple cooking that lets the goodness speak for itself.

So today, I’m sharing the version we keep coming back to — the one that pairs with everything and makes the whole house smell incredible. Let’s keep it simple… and delicious.

INGREDIENTS
  • 250ml Water

  • 1/2 tsp Salt

  • 1/4 tsp Mustard

  • 1/4 tsp Balsamic Vinegar

  • 1/4 tsp Rosemary

  • Pinch Sage

METHOD

1: Put the basic base, water, salt, mustard, and the balsamic vinegar in a blender until creamy. (add more water depending on how thin you like your gravy)

2: Transfer to a small pan and add the rosemary. Then gently heat until desired temp... we like our gravy very hot (but don't boil!). When it's ready pour into gravy boat or mug and you are ready to go.

NOTES

1. If you like really thick, and creamy gravy you can always add a little flour or even oats to the blender at the beginning.

WHY DO I WRITE ABOUT THIS...

I’ve lived through it. I understand how it feels to want a radical life change but not know where to start. Feeling trapped by exhaustion, self-doubt, and confusion. I’ve felt the weight of wanting more from life but not having the energy or motivation to pursue it. I believe that feeling exhausted, overwhelmed and trapped shouldn't be normal.
